HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Development of the physical, intellectual, social and emotional capacities necessary in the strands of 'Movement and physical activity' and 'Personal, social and community health' is a key component of the P–10 Australian Curriculum.

Health and Physical Education provides the foundations for learning and alignment to the Senior Physical Education syllabus to build increasingly complex and developmental courses of study in the senior years.

Senior Physical Education is broken into four units of work over the duration of two years. Each of the four units will be integrated with a variety physical activities.

1. Motor learning, Functional Anatomy and Biomechanics

2. Sports Psychology, Equity – Barriers and Enablers

3. Tactical Awareness, Ethics and Integrity

4. Energy, Fitness and Training

A course of study in Physical Education can establish a basis for further education and employment in the fields of exercise science, biomechanics, the allied health professions, psychology, teaching, sport journalism, sport marketing and management, sport promotion, sport development and coaching.
