Our Campus

The College consists of many buildings used for various purposes.

Edmund Rice Building (ER)

 Edmund Rice Building

Originally constructed in the early 1930s as part of the Christian Brothers College, this historic building has long been a central feature of the campus.

Spanning three levels, the building was designed with classrooms on each floor and, until its refurbishment in the 1990s, also accommodated the College’s administration and office facilities.

Today, the top floor contains seven classrooms, while the second floor houses the Learning Resource Centre and additional general learning spaces. The ground floor features the Tuckshop and Pastoral Area, supporting the daily needs and wellbeing of students.

At ground level, the undercroft provides a shaded outdoor space where students can gather and relax during breaks.

Catherine McAuley Building (CM)

Catherine McAuley Building

Up until the completion of the newly built Administration Building, Penola Place (2022) , one half of the ground level of Catherine McAuley Building was used to accommodate Teaching and Administration staff.  This area is recently underwent a refurbishment to include Learning Support, College Uniform Shop, and General Learning Area, completed in September 2023.

The remainder of the ground level of this building houses two Science Labs and two Classrooms.

Under the Federal Government's Building the Education Revolution (BER) and its Science Language Centre component (SLC), we added an upper level to this building.  This provides the College with two more Science Labs and three extra classrooms.

Sacred Heart Building (SH)

The Sacred Heart Building replaced the original Sacred Heart College in 2000 and was further upgraded in 2003 to create the modern learning facility used today.

Spanning two levels, the building features Home Economics and Hospitality facilities, a CAD laboratory, a Drama Centre, and a number of flexible General Learning Areas. A standout feature is the landscaped outdoor space, complete with stone seating and shade sails, providing an inviting area for students and staff.

Designed with versatility in mind, several classrooms can be opened to create larger collaborative spaces, allowing the building to accommodate parent information sessions, student gatherings, and a variety of learning and community events.

Caroline Chisholm Building (CH)

The Caroline Chisholm Building, originally constructed in the early 1970s as part of the Christian Brothers complex, continues to play an important role in the College’s learning environment.

The upper level is home to the Music Room and Art Studio. The Music Room is equipped with a wide variety of instruments and resources, providing students with opportunities to develop their musical talents through performance, practice, and collaboration. The vibrant and colourful Art Studio offers an inspiring space where students can explore their creativity and develop their artistic skills.

On the ground floor, a flexible General Learning Area supports a variety of classes and learning activities, making the building a versatile and valued part of the campus.

Therese of the Little Way (TL)

TL Building

The Therese of the Little Way (TL) Building, completed in 2015, is a purpose-built Industrial Design complex that provides students with a contemporary, state-of-the-art environment for learning. The facility supports a range of practical and creative opportunities, including building and construction, engineering principles, and digital design.

The building’s name honours Saint Thérèse of Lisieux, affectionately known as The Little Flower, whose spirituality centred on what became known as The Little Way, a path of faith expressed through humility, kindness, and everyday actions.

Saint Thérèse has long been associated with the Christian Brothers who founded the Boys’ College in Gympie more than a century ago. This connection reflects an important part of the College’s heritage and tradition.

The significance of Saint Thérèse is further reflected in the College’s history, as the original school was opened on her feast day. This enduring link is symbolised by the cross, blessed by Bishop Finnegan, which is now proudly displayed in the foyer of the TL Building

Matthew Horan Centre (MHC)

Matthew Horan Centre

The Matthew Horan Centre, completed in early 2010, is a significant addition to the College campus and provides a versatile space for sport, learning, and community events.

Purpose-built as a covered sports facility, the centre features a stage area, storage rooms, and modern toilet and shower amenities. Electric roller doors were installed to enhance security and provide protection from the elements.

The playing surface is a low-rebound Rebound Ace court, marked for basketball, volleyball, and netball, making it suitable for a wide range of sporting activities. The centre is regularly used for a variety of classes, including Dance, providing students with a flexible and functional learning environment.

The Matthew Horan Centre also serves as a premier venue for major College events. Its professional facilities allow it to host productions such as the College Musical and the Year 12 Formal, creating memorable experiences for students, families, and the wider community in a polished and professional setting.

Penola Place - Administration

Penola Place - Administration Building

Penola Place is the College’s newest building, completed in 2022. It now serves as the home of our Teaching and Administration staff, who were previously located on the lower level of the Catherine McAuley Building.

The site was formerly home to Pat’s Cottage, a residence with a rich family history dating back to 1944. Pat was a dedicated supporter of the St Patrick’s community and held a deep affection for the College.

The name Penola Place honours the rural South Australian town of Penola, where our patron saint, Saint Mary MacKillop, spent part of her youth and began her lifelong association with education. This connection reflects the College’s commitment to faith, learning, and service.

The Dawn - Farm Campus

The Dawn

The Dawn Farm Campus, acquired by the College in 2024, is a 100-acre property located just five minutes from the main campus. As an exciting and growing educational facility, it provides students with valuable hands-on learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

Home to a cattle enterprise and with the Mary River running through the property, The Dawn offers an authentic rural setting for Agriculture studies, Outdoor Education, and student camps. Through these experiences, students develop practical skills, leadership, resilience, and a deeper connection to the land and natural environment.

As the campus continues to develop, The Dawn will play an increasingly important role in enriching learning opportunities for our students.
