Ancient and Modern History

​Ancient History provides students with the opportunity to study life in early civilisations based on the analysis and interpretation of primary and Secondary sources. 

This course is comprised of two main areas of focus:

  • ​The Mesoamerican civilisations of the Aztec, Maya and Inca
  • Polynesia​​​



Modern History provides opportunities for students to gain historical knowledge and understanding about some of the main forces that have contributed to the development of the Modern World and to think historically and form a historical consciousness in relation to these same forces.



In studying Modern History, students will learn about:


  • ideas in the Modern World
  • movements in the Modern World
  • national experiences in the Modern World
  • international experiences in the Modern World​
 Note:  Topics may change from year to year as they are dependent on the external exam topic and the teacher’s preference
